Nóra studied classical piano and achieved honours at Grade 8 standard in both the RIAM and ABRSM examinations. Twice winner of the prestigious senior solo piano competition at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. In 1994 she completed an ALCM on the Irish Traditional Flute. Nóra studied for a Bachelor of Music Degree from 1990-1994 at Waterford Institute of Technology and graduated with first class honours. This was a milestone for the college as Nóra was the first student to be awarded first class honours for this particular degree. As part of this course Nóra studied Music History, Irish Traditional Music, Ethnomusicology, Composition, Acoustics, Psychology, History, Singing, Orchestration, Conducting, Arts Administration and Performance (Classical Piano, Clarinet & Concert Flute). Following on from the success of this degree Nóra then completed a Masters in music performance (Irish Traditional Flute) and research at WIT in 2001. In 2014 she also completed a second Masters in Teaching and Learning in Further and Higher Education. Nóra is Music Lecturer at the South East Technological University.

Nóra was musical director of Craobh Nua who formed in 2009 and performed in many venues including St. David’s Cathedral Wales and Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford City. As guests of the Mayor of Rochester, USA. they travelled there to perform at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. This dynamic group produced an inspiring CD titled In Full Sail (2009). Nóra was also musical director with the music group Casóg who released their first CD titled New Light (2014). She was also appointed musical director of the Senior Irish Traditional Music Ensemble with Music Generation Waterford in 2018 and stepped down from this role in September 2022. In Oct 2020, Nóra had her first book titled Music & Memories was launched. To date over one hundred students have completed their Dip LCM under Nóra's tuition.
